As with many classic lenses, it is a bit soft and dreamy wide open.
step the lens down to f/2.8 and all the way through f/11 distortion is low, and sharpness and resolution are high.
It is a bit better at f16 than many lenses in this category.  
Diffraction seems to be better controlled.
Well corrected lateral CA and low distortion.
Corner performance consistent with center performance.
In the out-of-focus areas, one will find what is commonly termed "soap-bubble bokeh", in which there is a brighter ring around out-of-focus specular highlights.  
In the absence of those highlights, there is a gentle transition from in-focus to out-of-focus areas.
This lens is beautifully constructed, as most of the late 1960’s early 1970’s lenses were.
