netistä jonkun saama vastaus Dave Morganilta: Here are some answers to my questions from Dave:
We're gonna Change all this (Demo / Fred’s Box)
Steve Wheate and Dave at Richard Tandy’s house. 20 May 1970. Richard is probably also on this.
Freds Box comprised: Myself, Jim O’Neill, Steve Wheate, Bob Catley and Howard Williams (‘Fred’). I was with them doing a residency at the Rum Runner Night cLub from 4 May to 31 August 1970.
Dey Droppin Out (Demo)
Steve Wheate and me at my moms house. We used a broken Shure microphone to get the filtered vocal effect. I once had a London producer ring me up asking me how it was done!
Jake the Make
Just me, a B&O recorder, and a song I had written about a mate of mine who was a bit of a Jack-the-Lad type. This has never been released before.
Ill Wind that Blows (Demo)
Richard Tandy, Carl Wayne, Trevor Burton, Roy Wood and myself.
(Enhanced version of the same recording as issued on the Ugly’s CD)
This song started it all for me! When Danny King heard it, he called me at the Motor Spares factory where I was working and told me he wanted me in his group. The original version was recorded in Johnny Hayne's studio (behind Ladbrookes Pianos on Bristol Street) at the end of 1965. This version, with Carl Wayne, Trevor Burton and Roy Wood, was recorded in 1969. again at Johnny Hayne's studio.
Goodbye Lover
Richard Tandy and me at Richard’s mom’s house. Not sure if Steve Wheate is on this!
(Briefly available in the early 2000's as a download only track from Dave Morgans Website)
Richard Tandy and I recorded lots of tracks in the front room of his family home in Greet, Birmingham. Here’s a rare treat of us playing the demo of this song, later recorded by Wishful Thinking.
She Belongs to the Night
Jeff Turton (Thigh-Slapping percussion), Steve Wheate and me. Overdubs including backwards guitar by me later.
I played bass in Geoff Turton’s backing group ‘Houston Treadmill’ from January to April 1970 (along with drummer Steve Wheate) and this demo was recorded on my B&O recorder in a hotel room in Liverpool on 5 March 1970.
