Nothing more than a pub rock band specialising in old fashioned rock and roll, Brinsley Schwarz were responsible for a string of sadly neglected albums released in the early seventies from which this best of collection has been culled. Even though Schwarz fronted the band, the driving force behind it was one Nick Lowe who was destined to find wider appeal as a solo artist.

Probably the only song remembered by the band is "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding", later covered by Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe himself, but Fifteen Thoughts is packed with little gems which really make me wish I could get my hands on the albums they're culled from. "There's A Cloud In My Heart", "Hooked On Love", "I Like You, I Don't Love You" and a great laid-back version of Bob Marley's "Hypocrite" - brilliant all.
