I love this film adaptation of JCS.
Ted Neeley is Jesus, if Jesus fronted a rock band.
The hippie vibe, though it may seem contrived today, was authentic for the time. In fact the hippie vibe, set in the dessert makes the whole story feel that much more contemporary (even 40 years later). JCS was to theater and musicals in the 70s, what Hamilton is today: a classic story set to modern day music.

Carl Anderson as Judas was also terrific. Have to mention.
