The most prominent force behind its wildness is in the colorful persona of vocalist Bill "Wildman" Farley. With a glass-shattering set of pipes that could fell a neighborhood of greenhouses, his signature approach could be best described as the missing link between Vince Neil and Sebastian Bach, frequently ripping out high shrieks and otherwise maintaining a gritty growl in an upper register that could be likened to Steven Pearcy after an overdose of helium. His celebratory ravings are backed up by a fairly by-the-numbers heavy metal instrumentation that occasionally hearkens back to the more metallic mannerisms of W.A.S.P. and Twister Sister, while at others having more of a bluesy rocking character that hints at some group listening sessions to Motley Crue's Theater Of Pain.

This dual path of sleazy hard rocking and guitar-dominated heavy metal has a tendency of seesawing from one song to the next, giving off the feel of this album being a compilation of several songwriting sessions spanning a few years. The opening anthem of partying hard and not giving two shits about the hangover is a bombastic blues rock in "Give It To Ya Straight", which enters on a wild drum intro courtesy of Derek Lord (a brief member of Nuclear Assault from a few years prior) and screams Motley Crue worship like it was going out of style. Nipping on its heels is a more Judas Priest inspired crusher in "Get Back Stand Back", which along with the W.A.S.P. infused anthem "Tight" and the Sabbath-inspired creeper of a title song "Let The Metal Play" stand as the most metallic moments on here. Actually, apart from the sappy ballad and partial homage to Crue's "Home Sweet Home" in "No Longer Feel", everything on here is enjoyable regardless of its metal or rock pedigree.
