What else can you expect from the incredibly prolific psychedelic music era? In the case of the Bubble Puppy, however, do not write them off as silly in any way, despite the band name. Perhaps you never heard of them, or perhaps you remember the hard driving psychedelic anthem which was their big hit "Hot Smoke and Sassafras" but are wondering if the rest of the album can hold up to the promise of this song, or whether they fall into the 'one-hit wonder' category? Wonder no longer and just buy the CD - it very much delivers on the promises it has gathered. I think the band compares quite favorably to contemporaries such as the Thirtheenth Floor Elevators and is easily better than the more famous Strawberry Alarm Clock. The songwriting and especially the guitar work is solid throughout the album, especially after repeated listenings. If you are a fan of psychedelic and/or garage band music from the 1960's, you owe it to yourself to pick this CD up and give it a listen or three.
