An incredible triple-feature DVD containing three films that define the sexual decadence and political turmoil of the late '60s San Francisco scene!

ODDO (1967): Following a two-year tour in Vietnam, Richard returns to a hometown he perceives as decadent and symbolic of the general disintegration of society. Fueled by unstoppable anger, he lashes out at prostitutes, family members and anyone who gets in his way. Before Taxi Driver and Combat Shock, Nick Philips crafted this disturbing tale of sexual excess and retribution.

HOW I GOT MY MINK (1969): Rebellious siblings Donna and Philip embark upon an avant-garde film highlighting the relaxed sexual mores of the San Francisco youth culture. They soon progress from documentation to willing participation in ever-increasing acts of hedonism as Donna experiments with lesbianism and Philip engages in three-way romps.

SCYLA (1967): Passionately in love with the beautiful Scyla, Gregory follows her from the beach to spy on her while she makes love to her boyfriend. As his obsession with Scyla grows, so does the jealousy of his stunning part-time girlfriend, Circe. Concocting a plan to destroy Scyla's beauty, Circe seduces her and plies her with a dangerous potion. Set to an experimental jazz score, Scyla is a haunting tale of passion, jealousy and forbidden love, inspired by the classic Greek myth.

This latest compilation of grindhouse flotsom from the Retro Seduction Cinema folks presents 3 'groovey' 1960's vintage skin fliks by sexploitation film auteur Nick Phillips.
Phillip's apparently filmed many of his pieces in San Francisco during the heyday of the hippie movement, and this DVD IS titled the 'San Francisco Sex Collection' - thus it's a little ironic that (according to the liner notes) 2 of the 3 movies included were actually shot in the L.A. area. Regardless, aside from a few exterior scenes, most of the 'action' takes place in tacky bedroom settings. The movies included are: "Oddo" (B&W) about a traumatized Vietnam vet who returns home & has a hard time dealing with the reintegration into 'normal' life... he brutally attacks several of the women he attempts to reconnect with. While the 'political' relevance rating is high on this one, the sexual factor is the lowest of the three - tho some attractive 60's chicks are on display. "Scyla" (B&W) - borrows its' name and a bit of plot line from Greek mythology but mostly follows the obsessive voyeurism of a guy who meets a girl (Scyla) at the beach then follows her home to spy on her couplings w/ her boyfriend, and girlfriends. Her principle girlfriend, Circe, is jealous and tricks Scyla into drinking an aging potion as they make sapphic love. More cute hippy chicks 'doing their thing' in this one and the explicitness meter raises a notch or two. "How I Got My Mink" (color) is the most explicit of the batch (even displaying a little pink) - the 'plot' follows a brother & sister who are apparently documenting sexual mores of the period. The girl wanders around w/ a tape-recorder intervewing people about their sexual attitudes while the brother is working with a movie camera - filming various sexual hook-ups. The action noticably heats up when the 'sister' is on screen during her sex scenes - she's a 60's beauty w/ a great set of puffy nipples & does a vibrator episode that's not to be missed. Ultimately I'm not sure if we ever do find out how she got her mink - but, who cares!?! All of these fliks are relatively short (approx. 60 min. each) and have simple sound tracks (Phillips used 'voice over' narration style dialog to save money) and interesting amalgams of 60's rock & jazz as background music. Per usual, the main reason to watch these marginal filmic efforts is the girls and Phillips does include some pretty attractive specimens from the period. 'Extras' on the disc are minimal - a bunch of 'trailers' for other Phillips flix that Retro Seduction Cinema carries - overall an easy watch, if not exceptional.
