In this first book in English to report on the find, Spindler recounts the day by day events following the discovery of the body, and then gives detailed discussion of the Iceman's equipment, his clothing, and the examination of the corpse itself. Final chapters place the Iceman in the context of the Neolithic Age in the Circum-Alpine region, and present a few reactions to the discovery.
