The Awful Truth was a short-lived American progressive rock/metal outfit from Houston, Texas active between between 1988-1989. It featured David Von Ohlerking on guitar, Alan Doss on drums and Monty Colvin on bass with all three providing vocals. The latter two would go on to found the prog/alt metal band Galactic Cowboys. The Awful Truth's only album was produced by Sam Taylor and released by Metal Blade Records in March 1990 after the group had already split up.
