On the 25-ruble check is an original drawing depicting a polar bear and walrus among the ice floes and hummocks against the background of the northern lights. Due to the pronounced northern symbolism of the checks, the name "morzhovka" (from Russian Morzh - Walrus) was used in everyday life. Chekhonin, more active than other artists working on decorative hand-drawn fonts, boldly loaded them with ornaments, practiced the characteristic manner of calligraphically sophisticated drawing.
