Nettikehua: This is a great album. Being a huge fan of both post-disco genres and later dance genres that evolved from house, i've always felt it strange that i've had such a hard time getting into house. After all, house is supposed to be the direct descendant of post-disco.
Adeva's self titled album cures this affliction for me. This is officially the first house album I've been able to love. And by the way if you're a fan of future funk you'll love this one- it's an example of a subgenre of house called 'garage house' which is takes obvious influences from funk.
Adeva is not a singles album, although each song from this album could have been a successful single. This entire release is a cohesive unit that keeps the mid tempo 'beach party' energy up and running the entire time with no missteps as far as melody, vocals, or production.
Adeva is a wonderful, soulful singer that brings life to these nostalgic beats.
This is one to look into if you're a fan of disco, post-disco, early forms of house, future funk, vaporwave, or chillwave. Really a fantastic overlooked gem.
