Amerika (Amerikka 1994) DVD Franz Kafka -filmatisointi

Todellinen harvinaisuus: tsekkiläinen filmatisointi Franz Kafkan romaanista!
Not everyone lives their American dream. Based on the postmodernist vision of Franz Kafka's unfinished novel The Missing (aka America), the film tells the story of a young Czech, Karl Rossman, who goes to America at the beginning of the 20th century. Uncle Jakob, who is considered the richest man here, accepts him as his own son under the condition of Karl's absolute submission. However, the conditions here are completely different from those in Europe, Karel will not succeed and his uncle will disinherit him. The young man has to fend for himself. In the end, he is helped out of a difficult situation by an eternally drunk sailor and the kind waitress Tereza.
Vladimír Michálek chose an unconventional adaptation of Franz Kafka's novel for his feature debut. Artistically reminiscent of the classic films of Karel Zeman. The film provided Czech comedian Jirí Lábus with a new kind of role: that of the despotic uncle of a main hero Karel Rossman (Martin Dejdar - the Czech dubbing voice of Bart Simpson!).
