American keyboardist, singer, songwriter, producer and music arranger. He was born December 25, 1939 in Marshall, Missouri. Father of singer / songwriter Hilary James. The longest stint with a record label he had was with Warner Bros. Records, from 1985 to 2003.

He has the distinction of having all of his Tappan Zee/Columbia and CTI albums released on his current label, as well as having them, along with some of his Warner Bros. catalogue (including Fourplay albums) reissued on Evosound
