Alaska, late 19th century: The gold rush has broken out, and countless fortune seekers are on the hunt for riches – among them the Little Tramp (Charlie Chaplin). During a blizzard, he seeks shelter in a cabin and meets the adventurer Big Jim (Mack Swain). Both are tormented by hunger, which drives them to drastic measures. After the storm, the Tramp continues on to a gold rush town, where he falls head over heels in love with the barmaid Georgine (Georgia Hale).

On June 26, 1925, one of Charles Chaplin's finest films celebrated its Hollywood premiere. To mark his 100th birthday, it is being released for the first time in 4K and in a fully restored version. The release includes additional original full-screen footage and newly recorded music, which Chaplin himself composed for the soundtrack in 1942. This allows viewers to experience this masterpiece on its centenary closer to its original form than ever before.
