Peter O'Toole is a lonely biologist who can not get over the death of his beloved wife. He plans a Frankenstein-like recreation of the deceased woman, using a few cells from her body. To complete the resurrection he needs a human egg, which he receives from his lab assistant (Mariel Hemingway). Inevitably, O'Toole's interest in Hemingway becomes more than just scientific.
