Deep Purple, also referred to as Deep Purple III, is the third studio album by the English rock band Deep Purple, released in June 1969 on Tetragrammaton Records in the United States and only in September 1969 on Harvest Records in the United Kingdom.

The music of this album is mostly original and a combination of progressive rock, hard rock and psychedelic rock, but with a harder edge and with the guitar parts in more evidence than in the past. 

Deep Purple (also known as Deep Purple III, or 'April') is the third studio album by British hard rock band Deep Purple.
Album recorded January to March 1969 at De Lane Lea Studios, London, UK and released in November, 1969 (UK), July, 1969 (US).
It is the last album to be released by the original line-up (Mk. I) that's been recorded.
After that, vocalist Rod Evans and bassist Nick Simper were replaced by Ian Gillan and Roger Glover.

Can't compliment this pressing enough. Soundstage is wonderful, it's nice and detailed, the bass is pounding and it's nicely balanced across the board. The mix itself is really good, too, with well recorded, true stereo drums which was a bit of a novelty in 1969.
