The BLURAY fom INDICATOR/POWERHOUSE is excellent quality. 16.9 (1.85:1) ratio, good clear picture, sound and subtitles. Extras as listed here on the Amazon site. "A Phantasmagoria of fright" says the blurb on the back cover. Not sure what that means. This started so well. Lush locations, Hemmings looking very louche and pretty, Dame Flora, very mysterious and short lived, and Gayle Hunnicutt wandering among old ruins with her pupils and then bare legged along the beach to talk to Hemmings. All mysterious and gripping and bathed in hot sunshine....then...back to Kensington and belting rain, and somehow, for me, the film slowly went downhill into a farcical, almost surreal ending. Nothing wrong with most of the acting, but surely some scenes and characters never made it to the final cut? For example - did Gayle and Hemmings know each other before we meet them? I think not, which makes their relationship very odd. Then did we ever see "Miss Dacy" played by Hilda Barry? I don't think so. The plot becomes more twisted as the film moves on, and frankly, it needed a director like Hitchcock to do the novel justice. A gallant failure, with many good points, but not a 5 star for me. An excellent booklet (read after the film) makes for fascinating reading. Lastly - Is it me or was Gayle Hunnicut not yet comfortable in the acting stakes? Just asking! Worth seeing if you fancy a bit of a puzzle and you like Hemmings, who acts his socks off!
