Fine 1995 release from Mayall and his band at the time featuring Buddy Whittington on guitar. Mayall continues to this day creating new music and has never drifted away from the blues style he has played for nearly 60 years. I certainly hope Mayall gets the recognition he deserves for his very lengthy career, many quality albums, his position as one of the original British Bluesmen and the many fine musicians that have passed through his band in those many years. Spinning Coin is a worthy successor to the Bluesbreakers' previous album Wake Up Call. The newly recruited guitarist Buddy Whittington is brilliant. His fluid, virtuoso playing adds an exciting dimension to already strong material.

 John Mayall (1933–2024) was an English blues singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Known as the "Godfather of British Blues," he was the driving force behind the 1960s UK blues scene. His band, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, acted as a legendary launching pad for iconic rock and blues musicians.

The rotating cast of musicians who played in the Bluesbreakers reads like a "who's who" of rock and roll royalty. Some of the most notable alumni include:

• Eric Clapton: Played on the monumental 1966 album Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton.

• Peter Green: Later founded Fleetwood Mac.

• Mick Taylor: Later joined the Rolling Stones.

• Mick Fleetwood: Co-founder of Fleetwood Mac.

• John McVie: Longtime bassist for Fleetwood Mac.
