netistä: Lucky to have discovered this album in a rack of bargain records at a hi-fi repair shop in Singapore. Liked the title and the sleeve. Such a great album that remains undiscovered to most. Imagine Diana Ross growing up in the East Village and befriending Lou Reed. Highly recommended.
This album is groundbreaking. The songs are wonderful--like poetry and seamlessly switch from soft jazzy pop to hard core rock, with lots of soul. The lyrics are killer, semi-autobiographical stuff, like Keruac turned hippy. The LP was issued in 1969, so it does bring some Beat Generation sensibilities into the Hippie age. Really, a one-of -a kind. Next bext thing to a time machine. A must!
