A group of high-life thugs will stop at nothing to get their hands on a jeweled falcon statue. Private investigator Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart) is determined to find out. This third film adaptation of Dashiell Hammett's novel was a first in many ways: John Huston's directorial debut, Sydney Greenstreet's screen debut, the first film noir in film history, and Bogart's breakthrough film noir role after years of contract acting.

An all-star cast (including Greenstreet, Mary Astor, Peter Lorre, and Elisha Cook Jr.) stars with Bogart in this gripping tale, which was named one of the top 100 American films by the American Film Institute. Many consider it the greatest detective film of all time. It's easy to agree with that opinion after every viewing.
