De Sade's infamous novel "The philosophy in the bedroom" from 1793 is here postponed to 1970. The place is an idyllic island paradise where the shy teenage girl Eugenie (Liljedahl) goes to visit his father's mistress, Madame de St. Set. But Madame has plans for Eugenie. Evil plans. And together with the sadistic cult leader Dolmance (Lee), who ensnares the girl in a web of drugs, rape and torture that will change her life - for good.

EUGENIE has all these years been considered too controversial to be shown in Sweden. When the now finally released it in the digitally newly restored original version.

WHO WAS THE MARQUIS DE SADE?
Marquis de Sade (1740-1814) - often called Sadomasochismens ancestor - still continues to seduce and terrify us 200 years after his death. Geoffrey Rush was the last to portray him in his Oscar-nominated role in "Quills" (2000) and best known film based on one of his works, of course, Pasolini's "Salò" (1975). De Sade ended up in the f & auml; jail innumerable times because of their perverse inclinations and their unauthorized manual. Napoleon made sure he finally ended up in a mental hospital, where his life was terminated.
