I bought this dvd back in 2012 and I loved the movie to bits. Like another reviewer here I was really surprised by the few bad reviews this film has gotten here. Michele Soavi only directed a few movies but all of them are worth watching. Stage fright, Dellamorte Dellamore & this one La Chiesa (The Church) are right up there with the very best Italian movies. Other reviewers explain the plot so I will just mention the unique atmosphere this film has, helped immensely by the excellent score by Goblin, Philip Glass & Keith Emerson. The special effects are great & its beautifully shot. The only slight downside here is the picture quality on the Blue Underground disc. Its fairly good but no better than that. La Chiesa deserves better & hopefully we'll get a blu ray release eventually. If you like Italian horror movies made in the 70's & 80's then this is a must buy. Its one of the best.
