Evil men (2003) is a book about some of history's greatest villains. The men in the book are Attila the Hun, Tomas de Torquemada, Vlad Dracula, Francisco Pizarro, Ivan the Terrible, Rasputin, Stalin, Hitler, 'Papa Doc' Duvalier, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden [cover images: Adolf Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin Dada, Josef Stalin].
Evil is all around us. It is inescapable. We see it in the newspaper headlines that report murder, rape and assault; we see it all too graphically when our TV screens relay pictures of violence, war and genocide. Most of us, however, are lucky enough never to have experienced the brutalization of political or religious oppression, and the poverty, disease and famine brought about by institutional corruption.
For those who were unfortunate enough to fall under the influence or control of the thirteen men fatured in this book, or who becake unwitting victims of their monstrous crimes, there would be no mercy, no reprieve and not even the slimmest chanse of a life free from the shadow of fear.
Motivated by power, religious belief, political conviction, sadism, lust, or driven by sheer insanity, the names of these thirteen men have become synonymous with evil throughout the world. The red threads of cruelty and terror that run through these lives make this book a disturbing record of cold-hearted brutality.
