Classic comedy from director Robert Stevenson. Merlin (Tommy Kirk) and Jennifer (Annette Funicello) are the sweethearts of Midvale College. Merlin is a gifted but slightly oddball student who, accompanied by Jennifer, sets out on a series of comic misadventures.

This offering is one of a series of 'family films' produced by the Disney corporation in the late 60s - mid 70s. Actually it is two made-for-tv films spliced together for theatre release. Tommy Kirk plays likeable mad-cap teenage inventor Merlin, his girl-friend played by the recently deceased Annette Funicello. He constructs a head-set capable of reading peoples thoughts and thinks he has uncovered a fiendish plot devised by his school-master (Leon Ames).Though originally meant for TV consumption there is lively interplay by Kirk (showing a nice flair for comedy) and the rest of the cast and makes a nice companion piece to the earlier "Absent-minded professor" and "Son of flubber". Excellent picture/sound quality.
