most significant competitor to Toby was a Solvkroken 'Odin' spoon from Norway . It entered the market in the 60's and was removed in the 80's so its life was limited and never able to compete on the long term with Toby. The more shallow S bend has been seen as causing a better fluttering action. I have never tried the two lures against each other, but that fact that Toby is still for sale indicates appreciated by many anglers.
