Tunnetaan myös nimellä One on Top of the Other. Alkuperäinen italiankielinen nimi on Una sull'altra.

Yhdysvaltalaisen Mondo Macabron hieno julkaisu Lucio Fulcin (Zombi 2, Contraband, City of the Living Dead, the Beyond, New York Ripper) taidokkaasta varhaisesta giallo-elokuvasta, joka oli "goren kummisedälle" genre-debyytti. Vain muutamaa vuotta myöhemmin Fulci täräytti tiskiin lajityypin klassikot A Lizard in a Woman's Skinin (1971) ja Don't Torture a Ducklingin (1972).

Perversion Storyssa sanfranciscolaista lääkäriä epäillään vaimonsa kuolemasta, vaikka hämmentävästi aivan samalta näyttävä, mutta eri nimeä käyttävä, nainen ilmestyy kuvioihin.

Elokuvaa pidetään temaattisesti esikuvana moderneille eroottisille trillereille, kuten Paul Verhoevenin Basic Instinctille ja Uli Edelin Body of Evidencelle.

Rooleissa nähdään muun muassa Jean Sorel (Belle de jour, Paranoia, The Day of the Jackal), Marisa Mell (Casanova 70, Danger Diabolik, Seven Blood-Stained Orchids), Elsa Martinelli (Captain Blood, Hatari, The 10th Victim) ja John Ireland (My Darling Clementine, Red River, All the King's Men).

Musiikista vastaa italialaisen genre-elokuvan luottonimi, Riz Ortolani, jonka tunnetuimpia teoksia lienevät Mondo Canen Grammy-palkittu soundtrack sekä Cannibal Holocaustin pysäyttävän kaunis score.

Dr. George Dumurrier is looking for money to expand the San Francisco based clinic he runs with his brother. He is also having an affair with Jane, a glamorous fashion photographer. When Dumurrier’s wife Susan dies following an asthma attack, leaving him a million dollar insurance payout, it seems that all his problems are solved – until an anonymous phone call sends him to the Roaring 20s strip club where he is astonished to discover that its featured performer, the dangerously desirable Monica Weston, looks exactly like his dead wife. As he tries to unravel this mystery, George learns that the police are now investigating his wife’s death and that he is under suspicion of murder.

Masterfully directed by Lucio Fulci, PERVERSION STORY just predates LIZARD IN A WOMAN’S SKIN and is equally compelling, mysterious and seductive. This fully restored Blu-ray release is the longest version available.
