Author R H Tawney, renowned English economist, was born in India in 1880. He studied at Rugby and at Balliol College, Oxford, has taught at Glasgow University, Oxford University, and at the time of writing this book, was Professor Emeritus of Economic History at the University of London. A member of the British Labor Party since 1906, he served on many public bodies and as economic advisor to the British Embassy in Washington.
