Biography

Formed in New York in 1982 by George Jinda (Born 4 June 1940, Hungary, d. 11 January 2002; drums, percussion) and Chieli Minucci (Born 17 April 1958, Huntington, New York, USA; guitar), Special EFX blended African and Latin rhythms and produce a mixture of light rock and MOR jazz.

Their music is perfect for the GRP Records label and consequently their output is prolific.

They employ additional musicians to give them a rich and, in keeping with GRP's policy, state-of-the-art recording sound. Session players include Mark Egan, McCoy Tyner, Dave Grusin and Omar Hakim.
