After World War II (1939-1945), Johnny returns home, but discovers that his wife has fallen in love with Eddie, the owner of a night club called The Blue Dahlia. At first, he feels so shocked that he only thinks about revenge, but immediately abandons the idea and leaves. When, the next day, his wife appears dead, he becomes the prime suspect. He will then have no choice but to look for the killer, and Joyce, Eddie's wife, will help him find him
