Brittiläisen Eureka Entertainmentin huikea rajoitetun painoksen julkaisu Sergio Corbuccin (Django, Odds and Evens, Super Fuzz) aivan liian vähäiselle huomiolle jääneestä spagettiwestern-klassikosta, joka ei todellakaan häpeä Sergio Leonen (A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly) rakastettujen filmien seurassa. Corbuccin mestariteos on monitasoinen, synkkä ja tiivistunnelmainen. Ohjaaja tarkoitti The Great Silencen allegoriaksi 1960-luvun lopun tapahtumille - etenkin Che Guevaran ja Malcolm X:n kuolema toimi innoittajana.

Pääosissa nähdään Jean Louis Trintignant (And God Created Woman, The Conformist, Flic Story, The City of Lost Children) ja Klaus Kinski (Nosferatu, Fitzcarraldo, Cobra Verde). Sivurooleissa esiintyvät muun muassa Frank Wolff (Salvatore Giuliano, Once Upon a Time in the West, Death Walks on High Heels), Mario Brega (My Name is Nobody) ja Vonetta McGee (Foxbat, Blacula, Shaft in Africa, The Eiger Sanction).

Upeasta musiikista vastaa italialainen säveltäjämaestro Ennio Morricone (Cinema Paradiso, Days of Heaven, The Thing, The Hateful Eight).

Kunnia ja oikeudenmukaisuus ottavat toisistaan mittaa näiden kanden taistellessa oikeudesta asein.
