Just in case anybody missed it, Trey Gunn is a bloody amazing musician! With only a few, if indeed any, exceptions, everything he plays on is well worth checking out. He and his band released The Joy Of Molybdenum in 2000 and it still pays dividends to this day, with nine wonderful tracks falling somewhere in a trance-inducing nether world between ambient, east Indian raga, and the more modern instrumental efforts of King Crimson. A quick check of the instrumentation hints at the sounds contained in this disc. Gunn played 8, 10 and 12 string touch guitars, mellotron, theremin, shortwave and "smokey guitar." Tony Geballe played electric guitar, saz (yes it says "saz" in the liner notes), acoustic 12-string guitar, leslie guitar, and UPS guitars. Bob Muller played the drum kit, tabla, bandir, darbouka, bodhran, dumbek, gamelan drum, rik, metals and shakers.
