1932 Godfrey Phillips Personalities of Today Set

"Cards were issued with packages of Godfrey Phillips cigarettes from that tobacco manufacturer from the UK. The set is called Personalities of Today, though ‘Today’ is actually presented as ‘To-day’ on the cards.

The set is mostly a non-sports issue as it focuses on famous people from various backgrounds. However, a few athletes are included and, as with most sets including non-sports cards, those are the ones that sell for the most. The Jack Dempsey card in particular leads the way as the card of the Hall of Fame boxer is heavily desired.

With regards to the non-sports personalities, the cards of Charlie Chaplin and Winston Churchill are also among the more popular cards in the set."
