French born American director Lee Sholem's nickname was "Roll Em' Sholem", due to his efficiency in bringing productions in on time and within budget. I'm not entirely sure what the budget was for this 1953 Western, but he certainly got the best out of his Hollywood star here, namely Maureen O'Hara, who takes centre stage as a saloon owner who is duped into becoming embroiled in a cattle war. It's a beautiful looking early 1950's Western which is criminally underseen here on LB, 153 views seems scant reward for a real showcase film for the talented Irish redhead, who brings this film to life with a wonderful performance.
