Zaroffin koirat (The Most Dangerous Game, 1932) VHS

King Kongin tekijä Ernest B. Schoeddack ja She-fantasian ohjannut Irving Pichel tekivöt yhdessä tämän vaikutusvaltaisen ihmismetsästyselokuvan vuonna 1932. Hyvin harvinainen suomalainen myynti-VHS. Uudenveroinen. Schoedsackin seuraava elokuva olikin sitten King Kong.

Richard Edward Connell Jr. (October 17, 1893 – November 22, 1949) was an American author, screenwriter, and journalist. One of the most popular short story writers of his time, he is best known for his 1924 story "The Most Dangerous Game". His stories were published in The Saturday Evening Post, The Century Magazine, and Collier's. He had equal success as a journalist and screenwriter and was nominated for an Academy Award in 1942 for Best Story for the 1941 film Meet John Doe, directed by Frank Capraand based on his 1922 short story "A Reputation"

The story features an American big-game hunter who falls from a ship and swims to a mysterious Caribbean island where he is hunted by a Russian aristocrat.[3] The story is inspired by the big-game hunting safarisfashionable among wealthy Americans in the 1920s.

The Most Dangerous Game is a 1932 American pre-Code horror film directed by Ernest B. Schoedsack and Irving Pichel, and starring Joel McCrea, Fay Wray and Leslie Banks. The movie is an adaptation of the 1924 short story of the same name by Richard Connell; it is the first film versionof the story.[3] In the United Kingdom, the film was released as The Hounds of Zaroff.

Parts of the 1932 film were included in RKO's remake of the story in A Game of Death (1945). Noble Johnson reprises his role of Zaroff's servant.[36]

Some shots in Dr. Cyclops (a film also directed by Schoedsack) have a composition very similar to shots in The Most Dangerous Game, notably, the scenes where the villain pursues people in the jungle and comes back with a dog.[37]

The 1932 film may have influenced the Zodiac Killer, because in one of his coded messages, he called man "the most dangerous animal of them all."
