The year is 1945, and Stalin's power controls Poland. Renowned painter W?adys?aw Strzemi?ski refuses to compromise his art or serve the doctrine of socialist realism. He is persecuted, expelled from the university, and his paintings are torn from museum walls. With the help of some of his students, he begins to fight against the Communist Party, becoming a symbol of artistic resistance against tyranny.
