netistä: I honestly think this might be the most underrated movie soundtrack of the 1970s. No one ever name-checks it that I've ever heard. If I was making a list of the most unappreciated ones of that decade, this would certainly be in the top 3. The Staple Singers are at their best, Curtis Mayfield turns in some absolutely transcendental content, and the whole thing is faaaaar better than the movie it was made for. Check this one out for sure. The two pressings I've heard are both blessing with above average sound.

Curtis was so prolific through the '60s and '70s, he was writing and producing his own material for the Impressions and solo and he also found time to score films and write a ton of songs for a lot of other folks. This is one that he probably wrote in his sleep. So what, it's great.
